Tianjin Port is always in high-speed operation. The towering crane and the piling up containers show the port’s strength in modern shipping and logistics. It’s said that the state approved to set up a bonded port in Dongjiang Port Zone in order to develop international transfer, distribution, procurement, entrepot trade and export processing business. Dongjiang Bonded Port Zone is hopeful of becoming China’s first free trade zone, serving and radiating regional development.

According to information from official with Tianjin Municipal Planning Bureau, that Tianjin Port’s cargo handling ability will come to 400 million tons and container handling will reach 20 million TEUs in 2020, becoming a world-class big port. According to the planning of “one port, a multiple of zones”, such port zones as Dongjiang, Beijiang, Nanjiang and Haihe will be built up. Priority in construction will be given to Beijiang Container Logistics Center and Dongjiang Port Zone (including Dongjiang Bonded Port Zone) and Nanjing Bulk Logistics Center will be rebuilt. Deep-water berth will be mainly built and the construction of the 250 000 tonnage deep-water sea route and 300 000 tonnage crude oil dock will be sped up. In combination with the reclamation project, integration of the regional ports in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will be accelerated to realize the direct traffic with the ports of key cities in the hinterland.
