The Belt and Road Youth Maker Camp is a science and technology cultural exchange activity for young people and teachers in the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. The main event of the 8th Belt and Road Youth Maker Camp is themed "Youth Has Dreams, Science Has Me, and the World Is United". It is hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and undertaken by 9 departments including the China Youth Science and Technology Center, the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Department of Commerce, the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Provincial Youth League Committee, the Provincial Women's Federation, and the Provincial Working Committee on the Care of the Next Generation. It is one of the supporting activities of the 8th China-South Asia Expo and is held simultaneously in a combination of online and offline methods.

The characteristics of this event include three aspects: First, the scale of participation is large. This event covers a wide range of countries and has a large number of teachers and students participating. Nearly 300 teachers and students from 38 countries and regions will participate in the event, which is the largest scale ever.

Second, the form and content are new. The event fully utilizes Yunnan's unique regional advantages and sets up a total of 15 activities, including an opening ceremony, 4 science and technology theme camps, and a number of science and technology and cultural exchange activities. Through the four theme maker camps of Miracle of Life Evolution, Dreaming of Plants and Trees, Smart Future, and Interstellar Crossing, we visited universities and research institutes, set up the "Belt and Road" Youth Science and Technology Education and Humanities Exchange Achievement Exhibition, the "Belt and Road" International Science Education Coordination Committee Annual Exchange Activities, International Youth Science and Technology Education Exchange Activities, Science Popularization Research - Lufeng World Dinosaur Valley and Chengjiang Fossil Site World Natural Heritage Museum Exploring the Origin of Life, Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience, "Friendship Night" Activities, Flower Field Handicrafts and other humanities exchange activities, fully displaying China's scientific and technological innovation achievements, colorful ethnic cultures and sustainable development initiatives, broadening the channels for science and technology and humanities exchanges between Yunnan and the countries co-building the "Belt and Road", and building a new platform for international exchanges and cooperation.

Third, the channel platform is wide. This is the first time that the event has been integrated into the China-South Asia Expo. It is empowered by major foreign affairs activities and is conducive to opening up a new situation of scientific and cultural exchanges and cooperation with neighboring countries. The event invited 16 foreign guests from international organizations such as the African Academy of Sciences, the Science Foundation of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Czech Science and Technology Union, the Thai Science and Technology Museum, and the Cambodian Ministry of Education to participate, which will further expand the "circle of friends" for scientific and educational exchanges and cooperation along the "Belt and Road". Mahouton Norbert Hounkonnou, Chairman of the African Academy of Sciences and Presidential Advisor in charge of Higher Education Control and Ethics in Benin, Academician Xu Xing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician Goi Bok Min, Vice President of the University of Raman, Malaysia, will communicate with young people on the spot to stimulate their scientific research interest and innovation potential. In addition, student representatives of the first Maker Camp will return to the Maker Camp as teaching assistants to share their personal experiences and touching stories, show the real feelings of young people and experts from the co-construction countries, and highlight the fruitful results of the "Belt and Road" youth science and technology and cultural exchanges.

The 8th "Belt and Road" Youth Maker Camp will meet young people from all over the world with a brand new look, inherit and carry forward the Silk Road spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win, and help build an open, inclusive, interconnected and jointly developed world.
