The four-day China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE) 2016 closed in Zhanjiang, Guangdong on Nov 27, nailing down deals and agreements netting more than 43.9 billion yuan ($6.4 billion), up 40.7 percent than last year.
It is the third time Zhanjiang held the annual expo, continuing to make breakthroughs at the national-level comprehensive marine expo more professional and high-end.
A total of more than 2,300 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions attended the event, with a total of 300,000 visitors taking part. The Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center offered an exhibition area of more than 200,000 square meters and was equipped with 2,633 exhibition stalls in variously themed pavilions.
Demonstrations ranged from marine protection, biomedicine, tourism and aquatic products. Cutting-edge marine equipment such as Jiaolong, a Chinese manned deep-sea research submersible, made a high-profile appearance.
The event also featured several forums on maritime economies, a project roadshow for maritime equipment makers and the debut of the new China Ocean Economic Development Index.
