【2020-02-12】
Recently, the Ministry of Commerce has stepped up efforts to ensure market safeguard for epidemic prevention and control, and actively coordinated the supply of daily necessities.
We should work hard to remobilize and redeploy the market supply of daily necessities. The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce jointly held the Video Conference on the Nationwide Deployment of Daily Necessities Safeguard in Response to Novel Coronavirus. Local governments are required to further consolidate their responsibilities, establish bottom-line thinking, implement targeted policies, so as to resolutely win the battle of epidemic prevention and protection of supply. All localities are deployed to further strengthen supply sources organization and the connection between production and sales, do a good job in streamlining consumption, and ensure the stable market supply of daily necessities.
We have coordinated and solved the commodity transportation jams in some regions. The Ministry of Commerce has further improved the work mechanism for emergency transportation of agricultural products, established a notification system for abnormal situations in key markets, and tracked market operations in important regions. We coordinated the Pingdu green onion wholesale market in Shandong to overcome the impact of the epidemic and continued to open the market to ensure the stable supply of green onions. We coordinated and solved the problem of blocked delivery of vegetable by Shanghai trucks and unblocked the Shanghai vegetable supply channels.
We have timely had a grasp of the ability of commerce and trade enterprises to ensure supply. The Ministry of Commerce has strengthened monitoring and investigation, found out the stores' opening, commercial inventory and quantity of products available for transportation. By January 31, the total number of vegetables, meat, and eggs available in 50 key agricultural product wholesale markets was 36,000 tons, 12,000 tons, and 256.8 tons respectively. 26 chain commerce and trade companies nationwide opened 14,900 stores, with an opening rate of 98%, covering 200 large and medium cities. Rice, flour, and edible oil stocks were 57,800 tons, 16,700 tons, and 42,900 tons. Pork, eggs, and milk stocks were 4300 tons, 3300 tons, and 65,200 tons, and instant noodles stocks were 5.37 million boxes.
