In May, China's imports and exports grew by 8.6% year-on-year, with exports growing by 11.2% year-on-year. He Yadong further stated that from an industry perspective, the market demand for three types of products is stable:

First, consumer electronics products

According to statistics from research institutions, global shipments of mobile phones and laptops increased by about 10% and 4% respectively in the first quarter, showing a clear recovery trend. Driven by demand for terminal products, China's integrated circuit exports and imports increased by 34.8% and 22% respectively in May.

Second, home products

Destocking in major overseas markets has achieved certain results, and there is a strong drive to replenish inventory of products such as furniture, textiles and clothing. A series of sporting events such as the Olympic Games have also driven demand for products such as televisions. The export value of home appliances increased by 23.5% in May.

Third, some high value-added electromechanical products

Relying on a complete industrial chain and technological advantages, the competitiveness of my country's automobile and ship products has continued to increase, with export values increasing by 20.3% and 67.7% respectively in May.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year, He Yadong said that the situation facing China's foreign trade development is still relatively complex. This is mainly reflected in the fact that the growth of external demand is not stable, the strength and sustainability of inventory replenishment in major markets remains to be seen, and with the increase in interference factors such as geopolitics, trade barriers, and shipping prices, companies still face many uncertainties in accepting orders and fulfilling contracts.

"We will further leverage the comprehensive effectiveness of policies to stabilize foreign trade, effectively help companies alleviate difficulties, continue to cultivate new impetus for foreign trade, and strive to promote the quality and quantity of foreign trade," said He Yadong.
